It's interesting, and I'm only pointing out for interest's sake, and not promulgating any conspiracy theories, but isn't weird that the physical evidence of our high profile assassinations can barely fit onto a microscope's specimen slide? Osama they dumped unceremoniously into a bottomless sea, promising photos as proof, which never came. Al-Baghdadi ended up as a human Rorschach splotch on an underground cave wall. And all we get from the most recent assassination of our high-profile 'terrorist' target — a national figure - is a hand with a ring. A very large, unmistakable ring, which leaves no doubt as to whose hand the finger is attached.

If there is one thing we know it's that the government of the United States always tells the truth and is never wrong. Hooah!

Trump & Co. can't sell the assassination of Qassem Soleimani as a victory in the Forever War of Terror begun on September 12, 2001 after a 'failure of intelligence' equal to Pearl Harbor. The United States has been at war with Iran since 1951 with the election of the popular Mohammad Mosaddegh. Imagine a country wanting dominion over its own natural resources. We don't need the sordid history of US interference and aggression in Iran here do we? The US is an Empire; Iran is a non-compliant, non-aligned State who refuses to pay its tribute, ergo an enemy.

We know the extreme right-wing, Armageddon worshiping Republican Party has been trying every hook and crook in the book to get its war on with Iran on for years. And they've edged close a few times. It's a fetish. Golden Showers have nothing on the extreme right-wing Iran fetishists who will stop at nothing to see a mushroom cloud over Tehran.

Trump is insane, but he is not alone. Trump's orders have been ignored before. They've been delayed and run around until his pathology moves him onto other crises. This well-planned assassination of Qassem Soleimani is something that had support from powers beyond the shallow political calculations of 2020. It is a purposeful escalation of a regional war in which the first casualty is certain to be the supply of Oil from the Middle East. How long before the threat to our 'strategic asset' of Oil is the reason to obliterate the stubborn, stiff-necked people of Iran?

I want to sign the white house petition to give clemency to Edward Snowden, but I don't. I am afraid. I am precisely what the government wants me to be; paralyzed with fear. I know with certainty that public support for a prominent figure which my government has declared a traitorous criminal and political enemy of the United States, could definitely have consequences later.

Remember back in the 1950s when McCarthy and other drunkards went on a wild snipe-hunt rampage against artists and intellectuals because critical thinking was a communist conspiracy? Of course you do. They've made movies about it. Didn't George Clooney do one? The cretins dug around in garbage bins and blackmailed confessions out of junkies to hunt down free thinkers and critics of The American Way.

So it's not so farfetched somewhere down the line I could be declared a terror-loving, non-combatant Enemy of the State and rounded up (if not droned on sight) and sent to one of them FEMA camps patrolled by black helicopters and be made to iron the bedsheets for the nearby Holiday Inn Express where all the families stay when they visit all us enemies of the state encamped in detention for exercising our suppressed and illegal inalienable right to think for ourselves.

Nothing says more about Americans than the collective yawn (present company excluded) as regards the revelation of a massive surveillance state whereby all are guilty of being a potential enemy of the state. We're all citizens of a pre-crime regime. Or Cheney's One Percent Doctrine.

Sure, the chattering classes and the political class enjoy a game of sanitized mud wrestling – all to eventually support and justify the status quo – the THREAT means we have to sacrifice our inalienable rights.

But where is the demonstration of conscience by “regular” people? Where is the protest of shutting off patronage to the corporations who collude with the venal American government in crimes against humanity? Where is the fight against the fascist military state which has squandered our good name and trillions of dollars to fight Quixote's windmills pillaging for profit?

The only guns I've ever owned were toys. To pretend-kill with. Boys love to pretend-kill and pretend-die. And pretend-save-the-day.

As an adult I've never owned a gun. Didn't trust myself. I'm a right-brained artist who wears his emotions on his sleeve. How many gun murders are crimes of passion? Emotions in chaos. Wild rage. Jealous anguish. Paranoid delusions. And how many mass-murder/murder-suicides are committed in spite of anti-depressants and other psychological pharmaceuticals in use to 'help' a potential human time-bomb?

Just because one can own a gun doesn't mean one should.

My wife was fuming this morning reading the headlines of Republicans pushing back with their usual clueless bombast on Obama's budget negotiation (Which for the record I am completely against. Unless Defense, the biggest 'entitlement', is on the table, the whole thing is a sham.)

But, my wife, who was clearly miffed, said the utter truth: They Lost.

The Republicans lost. Big time. They didn't lose because their candidates sucked. They lost because their policies suck; and now after all this to begin their stubborn, ignorant obstruction all over again; there is only one solution: Lock up the GOP and throw away the key.

The Negotiation going on to avoid the 'fiscal cliff' is all about what gets cut from the budget without causing massive riots on the streets of America. Because make no mistake, this grand bargain, is all about AUSTERITY.

Austerity is a buzzword for stealing from the poor and giving to the rich. Reverse-Robin Hood Economics. We've seen waves of austerity hysteria hit the streets of Europe for good reason. Austerity does not lead to growth, it leads to paying back banks so they don't close down your society. And they can.

What we are witnessing in the US is Grand Kabuki Politics. It's a show. It's the classic debate between Republicans and Democrats: Tax increases versus spending cuts and now through the genius of two-party tyranny, we get both.

When we shouldn't need either.

It's good to win. As Americans, with our culture of sports, politics and corporate ladders, we are taught early to compete often. Life is competition. We compete for position, money, love. Isn't the classic drama - a love triangle? To win the girl is a boy's ultimate victory. It's good to win.

But is it like the legendary coach Vince Lomabardi said: Winning isn't everything, it's the only thing?

I think too many have taken Coach's words to heart. But the Coach was talking about a game played on a field with rules, timekeepers and men in plastic armor.

Life is not a game.
